Michael Carrasquillo suffered severe damage to both arms after being shot 5 times while serving in Afghanistan. He entered the service when he was 18 years old, and was first deployment to Iraq right after the US invasion. He was 21 years old when he was injured and is now classified by the VA as 100% disabled. The VA has a Rating Board that uses a percentage system to determine the level of benefits for which the wounded vets are eligible.
